Story: R-Type Tactics

In a far-off future, a newly appointed fleet commander embarks on a voyage, carrying the weight of Earth's destiny.

An unknown lifeform, composed of pure destructive instinct, was observed near the center of the Perseus Arm of the galaxy. As patterns emerged in its repeated expansion and proliferation, human interest in this enigmatic entity intensified.
The swarm of lifeforms multiplied and advanced at a terrifying pace, eventually breaching the Orion Arm—the region that cradles the Solar System. When their projected trajectory was hastily calculated, humanity was struck with horror. Despite the vastness of space and the infinite paths they could have taken, the swarm was moving on a course that would cut directly through the Solar System. What had once been a subject of intense curiosity now became a source of dread. From that moment on, humanity began to call the entity—the “Bydo.”
The trans-dimensional fighters, developed to halt the Bydo invasion, achieved remarkable success in localized battles thanks to its agility and battleship-class firepower.
However, despite these tactical victories, the sheer scale of the Bydo advance proved overwhelming. Humanity found itself relentlessly driven back.

And then...
The Bydo finally reached the outer edge of the Solar System.
Fear of the Bydo drove people into a frenzy, and public opinion split in two. One faction was determined to defeat and eradicate the Bydo, to protect Earth from the hands of evil.
The other, however, emphasized the futility of fighting them and advocated abandoning Earth in favor of migration to another planet. As the fierce debate dragged on without resolution, an order was delivered to one commander: “Lead the remaining forces on Earth and destroy the Bydo as they enter Jupiter's orbit.”
